Love in the Twitterverse

Some years ago, a friend of mine told me that I had an active fantasy life. Fantasy? What do you mean fantasy?

#stripeywedding

This evening my gray tabby, Stripey (@ThatStripeyCat), married her long-time fiance’, marmalade tabby Honeybell (@Wildboutbirds) on Twitter. No fewer than 10 "anipals" and their typists helped to organize this event over the course of several months. Somewhere around 4,000 tweets using the #stripeywedding hashtag were sent from at least three continents.

I’ve talked about my cats tweeting (her sister, Cammie – @HerGraceTheCat – tweets, too) for well over a year and, well, I have to admit that I’ve gotten more than a few quizzical looks from people. But then, some of these people enjoy sports, so to be fair, I’ve probably given them some quizzical looks in exchange. Everyone has their own fantasy world.

I think that’s a good thing. Real life gets a bit thick sometimes, and it’s nice to have a place to go for a little while to get away from it all. Maybe a Twitter wedding isn’t “real life,” but I think that the world is a better place because of all the generosity, fun, camaraderie, and genuine affection that was involved in the planning and celebrating of the virtual marriage of two cats. It warmed by heart and made me smile.

Whatever your "fantasy" is, I hope it does the same for you.

Stripey and HB’s wedding was a beautiful event that I was honored to attend with my bf, @toughteddybear. My hooman Mom also gets “looks” (even from my Dad!)about the fact that I, a tabby cat, have a twitter account. The anipal community on twitter is an amazing group, sharing in joys & sorrows with one another. We consider ourselves blessed to be a part of it.

We wish Stripey and HB a lifetime of happiness together! And we want to thank everyone who worked to put their wedding together-it was fabulous from start to finish. Bravo!
    Pawhugs & purrrrs…..Lily

I happened upon the throwing of the bouquet at #stripeywedding. It was a special moment. Thanks, Stripey and Honeybell, for sharing your joy with us.

  • Why am I here?

JanesonA common position: Tinkering with my iPhone in Starbucks

You'd think that with all the time I spend working on the computer, I'd pick another way to spend my time. Alas, that is not the case. I've noticed - in my advancing age - that my brain is getting full. Since I don't want to take the chance of forgetting anything interesting (if only to myself), I thought it might be nice to have a place to offload the stories and minutiae that are filling it up so I can make room for more stuff.

Since you've found your way here, I hope that you find something that's interesting to you, too.
